2012 World Choir Games Book Release Event
CINCINNATI, OH – "Share Song. Create Magic. Capturing the Memories of the 2012 World Choir Games," a 160-page limited edition coffee-table photo book with more than 400 pictures from the World Choir Games, will be available for purchase locally at a release event at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood.
A team of close to 40 volunteer photographers worked to document the 2012 World Choir Games, along with staff members from the Cincinnati Organizing Committee; INTERKULTUR, the International Organizing Committee; and members of the community who contributed to a Capture Cincinnati Website. More than 7,000 photos were submitted.
There are chapters featuring competitions, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Awards Ceremonies, Celebration and Champion Concerts, Duke Energy Convention Center, Friendship Concerts and more.
"Only a limited number of books were printed," said Dan Lincoln, director of the 2012 World Choir Games and President & CEO of the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau. "We especially invite participating choirs, volunteers, sponsors, photographers and those who attended World Choir Games events to come out and celebrate with us again. Maybe we'll even break into a rendition of 'I Can, the Official Song of the 2012 World Choir Games.' "
Among the local choirs represented in the book: Bishop's Choir of the Cathedra Basilica, Calvary Choir, Choir of St. Bartholomew, Choraliers (Fairfield High School), Cincinnati Boychoir, Cincinnati Children's Choir, Cincinnati Men's Chorus, Cincinnati Public Schools Honor Choir, Cincinnati Sound Chorus, Delta Kings Chorus, Ensemble X (St. Xavier High School), Greater Cincinnati Indian Community Choir, Kings Chorale, Kolping Saengerchor, Lakota West Chamber Choir, LaSalle High School Vocal Ensemble, Little Miami Women's Chorale, Loveland by Request, Martin Luther King Coalition Chorale, McAuley Vocal Ensemble, Meridian 8, MUSE – Cincinnati Women's Choir, Norwood Community Chorus, NrityArpana School of Performing Arts, Peace & Serenity, Region 4 Chorus, School for Creative & Performing Arts Chorale, Show Cards (Colerain High School), Sounds of Sycamore, Southern Gateway Chorus, Sycamore High School United Singers of Aves, The Nine, UMOJA, Voices of America Chorus, Voices of Warren County and Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble.
The 7th World Choir Games were held July 4-14. It was the first time the largest choral competition in the world was held in the United States. Attendance at all World Choir Games events exceeded 208,000.
