The adult cardinal carefully places a bird seed into the young cardinal's beak. I got these shots while leaning against the sliding glass door as the cat was slipping through my legs to get closer to the bird feeder. No animals were harmed in the production of these pictures.

WOW! I didn't know the males took care of the young. But I did notice that they watch out for their pregnant mates very protectively. A real family man!
