Apotheke sign in Over-the-Rhine by Jerome Strauss / Living in Cincinnati

Apotheke means drugstore in German, and there is a very interesting story behind this sign. The hand-painted sign was uncovered in 1998 when an old adjacent building was demolished. Workers painted the wall red, but at the request of a fourth-generation German-American, they spared the German word.
