Saluting a Hero by Carrie Cochran / The Enquirer
A member of the U.S. Army Honor Guard saltues U.S. Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin Saturday afternoon, April 26, 2008 during the changing of the guard at the Union Township Civic Center in Union Township, Ohio. A 20-hour vigil is to take place before a procession and burial took place the follwing day. Maupin was part of the U.S. Army’s 724th Transportation Company and a graduate of Glen Este High School. Maupin arrived in Kuwait on Feb. 20, 2004. He was captured by Iraqi insurgents in Baghdad on April 9, 2004. The family was told his remains had been found on March 30th.
