
Initially called the "Cincinnati-Covington Suspension Bridge" the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. When the bridge was originally built the piers were not in the water so as not to interfere with the city's river shipping.
